Run to Zero

My Activity Tracking

119
kms

My target 95 kms

I'm running this 95 km this July for every person in Australia who dies from a heart attack, one every 95 minutes.

I have found out this year that I have Bicuspid Aortic Stenosis, I feel very lucky they have found this ticking time bomb and grateful for all the research into the heart and help given to those who need it.

So this July I'm starting from a 95km goal and running towards zero. I need my fundraising tally to rise as I count down each kilometre, so I'm asking for your help. Please donate.

Because every 95 minutes, someone loses their life to a heart attack in our country. That's why I'm choosing to Run to Zero.

Give me motivation to reach my running goals, while helping fund Heart Foundation's research and Health care programs.

My Updates

I have finished my 95km and my $500 goal.

Sunday 26th Jul
Thanks to my friends and family who walked, ran, cycled and I can not forgot a little bit of Yoga with my son Adam. Oh and of course Muttley for the motivation.

Thanks everyone for donating to a worthy cause.

RUN TO ZERO Mixing it up. Maybe about 3 walks to go.

Friday 17th Jul
Easy walk today followed by Pickleball.

If I put a tag on Muttley I could only imagine the KM he racked up chasing the pickleball outside the court. He certainly slept well afterwards.

RUN TO ZERO, 2nd day of running.

Thursday 16th Jul
Feeling fantastic today, everyday is feeling a little easier.

Today, we wanted to share the work of one of the researchers your fundraising supports, cardiologist and clinician-researcher Dr Nitesh Nerlekar from the Victorian Heart Hospital, Monash University and the Victorian Heart Institute. Dr Nerlekar is helping change the way heart disease is detected, especially in women.

Right now, many women don’t realise they’re at risk of cardiovascular disease until it’s too late. That’s why Dr Nerlekar and the team are exploring a groundbreaking new approach using routine mammograms and AI technology to identify early signs of heart disease before symptoms appear.
Their research focuses on breast arterial calcification (BAC), a marker linked to cardiovascular disease that often appears in mammograms.

With support from Heart Foundation funding, the team is investigating whether mammograms could become a powerful tool for earlier heart health screening and CVD prevention.

The goal? To identify people at risk earlier, so they can access treatment and support before a serious event, such as a stroke or heart attack.

This kind of research is only possible because of supporters like you.

Finally a Run - 5 km

Wednesday 15th Jul
So having the cardiologist saying carry on, we will check out in a year. What a ride, its not over but I am definately having a smother journey in the meantime.

So cheers to the start of many more 5km runs. Muttley is super happy.

DAY 9 - Im saying cycling counts as well. Its the journey.

Thursday 9th Jul
5km Walk up Huggens
11km Walk with Roz to Porepunkah via quins Gap and Roberts Creek Road
5km around Cherry Walk with Muttley.
If it wasn't so cold I could keep riding, I do love the e-bike!

DAY 8

Wednesday 8th Jul
Decided to take a wombat track today, must remember that it really is a short cut. Bugger it made me just shy of 5km.

Beautiful day for a walk.

RUN TO ZERO day 5 another 5km and counting.

Sunday 5th Jul
A beautiful morning for a walk. Bring on Tuesday for a joggle.

Run to Zero day 4 another 5km down and 80 to go.

Saturday 4th Jul
The dog whisperer, well it helps if I have the treats.

Day 3 with a little help from friends.

Friday 3rd Jul
Day 3 and another 5km, another 85km to go.

DAY 2 off to a slow start after an Angiogram

Thursday 2nd Jul
So my reason for participating is I have been diagnosed with Aortic Stenosis. I had an angigram on Tuesday to see what else was going on and It is looking like it is only the valve which is great news. Not out of the woods but still have a little further to walk, run and ride yet. Thanks to my friend Susan for a cycling outfit to keep me warm and comfortable. I know this is a run to Zero but however I do the 95km will still count, loving the e-bike.

Very thankfully for all the clever people around to fix me up and help keep moving.

And cheers to all my friends and family helping me out and keeping me active. I really couldnt do it without you.
